I did a much needed closet clean out last weekend. If I didn’t have a real reason to keep it, I pulled it. I’ve become much better at editing. The burden of having too much is something I think about, now more than ever. Quality pieces will always be worn and outlast everything else. With that said, I always have my eye on fresh basics that will stand the test of time. Shopbop has an excellent selection of everyday pieces … here are my picks.
The button down is my go-to uniform top. I’m intrigued by the cropped button down styles lately, like this oxford one. White t-shirts have also been making their way into the rotation with jeans and skirts. I love the edginess of this tee.
Stripes? Yup, a basic in my book. Take it one step further and add some stripes to your bottoms. How cool are these with the most subtle stripe?
With brighter days ahead, hats are on my mind. I love Janessa Leone hats and Shopbop has a great selection. This straw hat is a great addition with a wider brim. Perfect for days by the pool or baseball Saturdays.
Tis the season for a little white dress. This one from Staud is at the top of my list. I love the no fuss chic silhouette that you can wear all day long. I need to see this in person, stat.
I’m always looking for a fresh take on the denim jacket. This La Ligne cropped jacket hit the nail on the head. It’s non-stretch denim with large pockets. I love the lighter color too. Did I mention its called the “Val” jacket? Speaking of jackets, I can’t help but share this updated cropped trench style. I would wear this in a heart beat.
Next up, the purse. I get overwhelmed with all the trends and the price tags. But, I do love the excitement a purse brings me because of its high-end craftsmanship or just the simplicity of its style. I get tons of use out of my Tory Burch Petite Lee Radziwill double bag, but this new style shoulder purse is a great way to update the purse you always grab when you’re running out the door for school drop off, lunch with friends or work. Its such a classic color that will go with everything.
Lastly, the ballet flat. You’ll likely catch me wearing a Chanel ballet flat while I’m out and about. However, this crotched shoe by Staud has me thinking warmer days and I love the unexpected material and color.
A fresh take on your most loved basics is always a good idea. I love that Shopbop has some of my favorite and most trusted brands with just the right amount of options to chose from. Now, get to editing and updating!
