How to help? Feeling stuck! That is how I am feeling as the world I know is suffering during this pandemic. With so much sadness, uncertainty and feelings of helplessness, I wanted to find a way to make an impact, no matter how big or small, to support those on the front lines and the families and individuals who need our help the most. With so much information flooding our social feeds, I thought I’d round up some ways to give back. Get ready to do some good!
A small action or contribution feels good, especially knowing that so many people can benefit from a simple act of kindness. Here are a few businesses and people I trust and follow, who are doing some amazing work to help.
@zapantaalder
My sister and her partner are donating up to $25,000 to provide meals to healthcare and essential workers, while supporting restaurants and small businesses. Their campaign to give and help others is so inspiring and is the reason why I decided to write this post (my first in a very long time!). It doesn’t cost you anything, just follow @zapantaalder for updates on how to participate and learn more about their journey of giving.
Gal Meets Glam
Julia Engle of Gal Meets Glam, one of my all time favorite influencers, recently launched the Little Gal collection, made up of Mommy and Me dresses. For this collection, she is donating 100% of the proceeds to Baby to Baby, to help provide basic essentials to babies and families, like diapers and formula, to families impacted by COVID-19. Sounds like guilt free shopping to me!
@SophieandLili
Sophie and Lili founder and illustrator, Jennifer Vallez, has been a favorite of mine for some time. She speaks her mind and is passionate about change and a better future. She is donating 100% of the proceeds from the sales of her NY Mugs and Prints to the NYC Health + Hospitals, and the Thank You Mugs and Prints to Bethenny Frankel’s BStrong disaster relief fund. If there is someone you want to thank, send them one of her heartfelt creations.
Mi Golondrina
I have long adored the beautifully hand-crafted tops and dresses from Mi Golondrina, who partner with Mexican artisans on all of their pieces. Recently they created a small collection of COVID-19 masks. I had purchase one for myself when I saw the beautiful floral pattern, but what is even better, for every mask purchased Mi Golondrina will donate a mask to someone in need. I am proud to support a woman owned small business that is giving back during this most difficult time.
Alliance of Moms
Alliance of Moms “is a community of philanthropists who support pregnant and parenting teens in LA’s foster care system so that they can build a positive future for themselves and their children” and now more than ever they need our help. The funds raised support the Alliance for Children’s Rights, protecting the rights of impoverished and abused children and youth. With or without a pandemic happening, these young mothers and children need support.
Will continue to share more!
