As promised, here are more ways you can give back during this time of crisis and need for so many. You can read last month’s post too! Whether a small donation to your local hospital, a purchase of goods from your favorite boutique, or a heartfelt gesture to someone in need, there are many ways to make an impact and lend a helping hand.
Whether you are donating your time, money or skills, to support research, feeding the hungry, aiding small businesses, the service industry and the arts, lending a helping hand comes in all forms, so if you are able to … thank you!
Donate Direct
Several national and international organizations have been leading efforts of support long before this pandemic hit, so there are already trusted processes in place, like …
UNICEF Besides already delivering millions of supplies for healthcare workers around the world, UNICEF is focusing on preventative actions in communities to protect the health of children and their parents and caregivers.
Save The Children STC is distributing hygiene supplies to ensure communities can wash their hands, and vital health information on how to stay safe and prevent the spread of infection. They are also helping children and families cope with the sweeping school closures.
World Central Kitchen Working across America to safely distribute individually packaged, nutritious meals to those who need support.
Lastly, donate directly to your local hospital or a university. Not only will you help frontline healthcare heroes, but you can support the scientists and researchers working to create a vaccine.
Support Small
Lastly, a few ‘shop small’ recommendations I love and who are also giving back.
Mansur Gavriel is known for their iconic bucket bags. Handcrafted in Italy and designed in New York, these luxurious everyday bags are a classic staple for your closet. I am always grabbing for my classic black one all the time. Right now 10% of sales of every bucket bag will be donated to the Global Giving Coronavirus Relief Fund. Happy shopping!
Smitten on Paper will always have a special place in my heart. They designed our wedding invitation suite and a dream to work with as they brought my vision to life. If you need greeting cards or designed stationary, this is the small business you need to support. Whats even better, 20% of sales from their ‘Thank a Healthcare Worker’ cards will go directly to the Coronavirus Relief Fund. Thank someone you care about, while also making a much needed donation.
M. Gemi crafts beautifully designed and Italian-made shoes. I have yet to get a pair of my own, but this might change soon. Right now they are donating 10% of proceeds on full-price product to Direct Relief. A stylish shoe for a purposeful mission!
Everlane known for its ethically made classic clothing and transparent pricing structure, is donating 100% of the profits from their 100% Human Collection to Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund. I am fully onboard with Everlane’s mission and love them even more for giving back.
No matter how you decide to lend a helping hand, know that even the smallest effort does so much good.
