Creating a home that feels lived in, collected and special takes time. Our home has evolved with us. Our family has grown, I’ve found new sources of inspiration, and we’ve learned how to function in our space as our needs change. A home is always a work in progress, but not in a tedious sort of way, but to build upon your style and your interests. Finding beauty in corners of our home brings me joy
Like fresh blooms in our wallpapered dining room (truly the hub of our home) a neatly stacked coffee table with books we’ve collected, a perfectly pink and floral corner in Vivi’s room, or a bright yet cozy nook in our kitchen. I can rearrange, add to and create a new vignette that aesthetically makes me smile. Even better when the family takes notice and appreciates it as much as I do.
After getting the keys to our house four years ago, I accepted very quickly, that we couldn’t do and buy everything at once for our house. However, I’ve loved the process of seeing small corners and rooms transform. Taking my time with sourcing wallpaper, lighting, pieces of furniture, fabrics and treasured decor.
What once was a very outdated home that needed love and a refresh, our house has become a home we are proud of. I wrote this post that highlights the renovations we completed before we moved in. What a journey!
Over the years, I’ve become a believer in letting your home speak for itself. Feature your personal and family’s interests throughout your home. Let the kids play, study and eat in the dining room with your precious wallpaper. Have a corner for the kid’s stuff (and lots of basket storage!). It’s ok to have blank walls because you’re unsure of or not quite ready to fill it. Your home can be beautiful, functional and a work in progress. Just add in a little intention, patience and love.
What corners of your home bring you joy?
