Whether for the home, the car, the office or the dreaded junk drawer, I am using January to get organized now that the holidays are a distant memory and things will soon be much busier in our household. There is no better time to get organized than now.
Living in a smaller and older home, means limited and smaller storage space and making meaningful decisions on what stays, what goes and what does not come in the house.
Last week we tackled the kitchen. We moved items that we use most often to be more accessible, and I realized we could use more drawer organizers, like these. We have accumulated kid water bottles, snack boxes and such that were narrowed down. I want to be intentional on the items we use, so thinking about the materials its made from and longevity. Also, for me, I enjoy pieces that are aesthetically pleasing, like these bamboo reusable cups … so cute!
Are most parents constantly cleaning out and reorganizing their children’s bedrooms? I just donated clothing Arthur has outgrown or does not wear anymore. I intentionally buy clothing that he can always mix and match and neutral and classic pieces that will be worn much longer. We really limit any graphic and character tees.
It’s the toys, legos, activity structures and the random small pieces that drive Mommy a bit crazy. Will take my time to declutter his toy/craft closet and his bookshelf, which was once nicely color coded. These zipper storage bags are essential and of course lots of baskets.
Next, I am putting together a special projects list, like printing photos from my phone and creating more photos books and gathering our past holiday cards and saving them in a Christmas memory book like this to display year round. These cherished memories also need to be kept in order.
Lastly, I’d like to have more trays in various sizes. Perfect for keeping the coffee table, counters and tops of dressers tidy. And if you have limited closet space, these under-bed seasonal clothing storage bags are a must. Don’t forget about the car. I love this expandable tote.
Here is to hoping I can simplify and be as organized as reality will allow. What spaces do you plan on organizing or refresh projects do you have in mind?
Here are the items I plan to use or have in my cart that I find useful. More options linked on my LTK shop.
