A midweek getaway by the ocean and just a two hour drive, is all I need. Santa Barbara is one of our favorite places to be. We love to daydream about moving there one day, but for now, getting to visit and staycation is a treat. I’m packing my bag with summer essentials. We plan to sit pool and beach side all day long.
It’s a family affair. That means the kiddie pool, early morning beach walks to collect shells, lots of ice cream and room service, while the parents and grandparents can have child-free dinners. The ease of a quick drive north with lots of space for kids to run around is ideal.
My bag will consist of my go-to Hermes Oran sandals (worth every penny, imo), this beautifully strutted Cuyana hat, my new Tanya Taylor swimsuit, this easy linen dress for dinner, and I’m testing out this new sunscreen face mist for easy reapplying. Also, when I saw this skirt in person, I was convinced I needed an updated white skirt. It’s fun and full, perfect for twirling. Easily pairs with a tee or over a swimsuit.
Shell earrings are a must and make any outfit feel Summery. And of course I’ll be bringing coverups, like my usual pareos and this new super lightweight skirt.
Still debating on a beach/pool bag. I’ll bring my Loewe basket bag since it’s roomy for all the kid things, if needed for meals out. But I have a feeling I’ll end up packing our everyday canvas tote for daily activities of water, sun and lounging. Speaking of sun, I haven’t worn these Le Specs sunglasses in a while, so pulling them out and packing them now.
I am not a light packer by any means, even for three nights away, but having key pieces that I know I can mix and match, have multiple uses, can wear day to night, helps. So, ocean breeze, sun and family time, here we come!
