I love when I’m asked about our favorite toys, products and activities that keep our little one busy. Besides ‘adventure’ walks (these days, ‘adventure drives’), bouncing in the bouncy house or playing in the dirt, I find much joy in sourcing a great toy or book. As best I can, I try to purchase thoughtful items I think Arthur will get much use out of and that have a learning or creative aspect. But not to worry, he has plenty of random toys and missing pieces floating around the house.
At the beginning of the year and the past few months we made some great purchases. These are tried and true items we all really love as a family and that Arthur uses often. Enjoy!
Welcome to the Museum I cannot say enough good things about these beautiful and educational books. Not really sure if they are meant for three-year-olds, but Arthur is enamored by them. The detailed illustrations and ‘big words’ keep him engaged and the questions are non-stop. Plus, they display beautifully, like a great coffee table book. We have three from the series and I’m looking forward to growing this collection!
Little Likes Kids What I love, is that this company was started by a Mom, who wanted to create “beautifully-illustrated and lovingly designed toys inspired by—and truly reflective of—the lives of today’s kids”. Our first purchase was this jumbo puzzle. Not only are the products educational and fun, but they also feature diverse everyday scenes, which can be a great way to start conversations with your little ones about race. An excellent gift idea for your next birthday party!
Create a Story Card I bought these for Arthur’s birthday back in March, and shockingly he is still in love with them and pulls them out at least once a week as a bedtime story. It is a great way for him to use his imagination as we create a story together. I love Eeboo’s interactive products, and I love to see how my little one’s mind works!
The Bug Bottle I have posted several photos of Arthur’s adventures searching for bugs. This bottle includes a bug catching container, a magnifying glass and bug book. Arthur clings to the book almost everyday, always discovering something new. It also comes with a bug map, which he loves to run to after finding bugs (particularly spiders). Purchased this on a whim, and it has become the best busy activity.
Match a Pair of Birds This is a memory game. Where do I begin? First, the details and colors of each bird are fantastic. Second, memory games are great for kids and for adults too! Third, I’m often surprised at Arthur’s familiarity with certain birds he sees outdoors or on TV, and its just a great way to learn about birds. A great gift for a bird lover, and I do not mind these being all over the house, because they are truly beautiful.
What’s keeping your little ones busy?
