When Fall rolls around, there is a lightness in the air, a cozy feeling takes over, and a bowl of chili always sounds like a good idea. Living in Southern California, cold weather does not happen often, but the thought of sweater weather, boots and scarves still remains.
Now that Arthur is here, the excitement of Fall is on a whole new level. There are new traditions to be made, Halloween costumes to be worn, decorations to be bought, and baking skills to be sharpened. I’ve been looking forward to this for some time and cannot wait to celebrate with my little one, making it special and memorable.
I hope to fit in a few of these Fall activities this season.
- Apple picking. I want this to be an annual family tradition to kick off Fall. We visited Riley’s Farm a few years ago, and I think it will be such a different experience with Arthur running around.
- A trip to the pumpkin patch. Buying pumpkins at Trader Joe’s will not cut it anymore. So, we need to make our way to an actual pumpkin patch this year and try out one of these pumpkin carving ideas.
- Notes of thanks. Along with all the fun and festivities of Fall, I truly want to make an effort to write down what I am grateful for, and to teach Arthur the meaning of gratitude from an early age. I came across a helpful read on tips for teaching your child about being thankful and appreciative.
- The perfect Fall recipe. Last year, I made an easy to bake apple-cherry slab pie from a recipe I found in Magnolia Journal, it was a hit during the holidays. This year I might switch it up a bit, like a plum and thyme tart, not super traditional, yet very Fall-like. I think it just might be the one!
- A trip to Paris. As much as I would love to go back to ‘Parree’ every Fall, we will not be making it there this year, but a girl can dream. For our honeymoon, we traveled to France and spent several days in Paris, and what a magical time to be in that city during this season.
