I always jump at the chance to set the table for a special occasion or holiday. Also, I never need an excuse to add detailed placemats or printed napkins to elevate our family dinners and weekend lunches at home. Pull it together with a floral arrangement or picked stems from the garden (and of course candles) and you are good to go!
As I build my collection of tableware, I wanted to share what I love using and also what I hope to put on display one day. Not everything needs to be heirloom worthy or very expensive, so I love being able to mix high and low pieces, including vintage and estate sale finds.
I adore these placemats and this coral tablecloth from Mrs. Alice. Basically everything she curates is what I want. Etsy has the best tableware selection at such great price points, like these beautiful rattan placemats, perfect for dinner al fresco. Berner & Co is a beautiful destination for sweet details like these votive candle holders and embroidered napkins. I recently purchased this pitcher, tumblers and napkin rings, and I am so in love.
The pieces I tend to pull first are our everyday basketweave William and Sonoma dinner plates, Lenox gold flatware and our favorite Julia Amory tablecloths. Also, I recently scooped up these Juliska wine glasses that have come in quite handy, and mostly all of their pieces are great for everyday use.
With setting the table, have fun! Pull out your fine china and top them with a vintage salad plate (like these Denmark Blue plates on Etsy) or something colorful from West Elm or Target. Get creative, and enjoy some good food too!
