During the craziness of this year, we decided to make things just a tad more interesting by buying a new home. Our search started in late 2019 and it all officially ended in October. Dare I say, now the fun begins?
With impending renovations, I have been scouring all my beloved interior designer and decor sources for inspiration, efficient ideas and some dreaminess. Below are just a few of my favorite interior designers that I turn to for inspiration. I’ll share more along our journey of our first home renovation, but for now, putting out into the universe my design vision (or something like it).
Grandmillenial at Heart
Think chintz, prints, wallpaper, antiques, ruffles and rattan, a true Grandmillenial, aka Granny Chic, dream home. Nicola Bathie McLaughlin is not technically an interior designer, although she has the background for it, but her home exudes the quintessential Grandmillenial style that I adore. (I like to think I am one too, at heart.) She is not afraid of layering prints or using a bold pattern. The added extra without being overdone. Feminine and elegant, but totally livable. Also, one cannot use the term Grandmillenial, without mentioning Amy Berry Home. Hoping to curate pieces from her store into our home.
Understated Cool
Amber Interiors screams California ‘understated’ Cool. Quite the contrast from the traditional styles I gravitate towards. However, I am a California Girl and I find tons of inspiration in her work. The natural wood, stone, brass fixtures and clean lines she is known for can easily be incorporated into any home. She also just came out with her first book ‘Made for Living’ … which is now on my coffee table book wish list.
Traditional, But Make it Chic
I keep eyeing Ariel Okin’s chic style. There is something dramatic about her design approach. Whether a bold paint color or lacquered paneling, her design is modern and contemporary, but still timeless. This sophisticated style is what I hope to add into our cozy abode. Also, I will be checking out her latest removable wallpaper collaboration with Chasing Paper.
For our new house, we will take our time adding in special pieces, be thoughtful about anything we permanently add to the home, and of course sprinkle sentimental pieces into each room to truly make it … ours. It goes without saying that the joy this sweet little house has already brought to my family, is certainly starting to fill it with lots and lots of love. Home sweet home!
